Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 14 April 2025

These terms outline the agreement between Luma Path and clients who engage our interior design services. Please take a moment to read them carefully. By proceeding with any of our services, you indicate that you understand and agree to these terms.

1. About Luma Path

Luma Path is an interior design studio based at 13 Jalan Perak, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We offer residential and commercial interior design services under three service tiers: Veil Consultation, Layered Design Service, and Soft Handover. Our work is guided by attentiveness, spatial sensitivity, and a respect for each client's pace and preferences.

2. Scope of Services

The scope of each engagement is defined in a written proposal or service agreement issued before work begins. Services are limited to those described in the agreed proposal. Any changes to scope — including additions, substitutions, or alterations — must be agreed upon in writing before they are carried out. Luma Path reserves the right to decline scope changes that are not feasible within the agreed timeline or budget.

Our three service offerings are described below for reference:

  • Veil Consultation (MYR 430) — A site visit, written atmosphere impressions, and a soft mood palette. Delivered within one week.
  • Layered Design Service (MYR 3,100) — Full spatial planning, material selection, furniture curation, lighting layering, 3D renders, and two revision phases. Timeline of 5–9 weeks.
  • Soft Handover (MYR 1,600) — Renovation support including procurement management, contractor liaison, quality reviews, and a concluding styling session. Duration of 8–14 weeks.

3. Fees and Payment

All fees are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. A deposit of 50% of the total fee is required before any work commences. The remaining balance is due upon delivery of final deliverables or at project completion, whichever occurs first.

Payment may be made by bank transfer to the account details provided in your invoice. Luma Path does not accept cash payments for engagements above MYR 500. Receipts will be issued for all payments received.

If a project is placed on hold by the client for more than 30 calendar days, Luma Path may invoice for work completed to date and pause all active deliverables until the project resumes.

4. Revisions and Changes

The Layered Design Service includes two revision phases. Revisions requested beyond these phases, or outside the agreed scope, may be subject to additional fees at Luma Path's standard hourly rate, which will be communicated in advance.

Revisions must be submitted in a consolidated, written format. Luma Path is not responsible for inconsistencies arising from fragmented or verbal revision requests.

5. Client Responsibilities

To allow Luma Path to carry out its work thoughtfully and on schedule, the client agrees to:

  • Provide accurate information about the space, including measurements, existing fixtures, and any constraints.
  • Allow reasonable access to the premises for site visits and inspections as required.
  • Respond to design queries, approvals, and revision requests within 5 business days.
  • Notify Luma Path promptly of any changes to the project brief or site conditions.
  • Settle invoices by their stated due date.

Delays attributable to the client — including late approvals or restricted access — may result in corresponding adjustments to the project timeline.

6. Intellectual Property

All design drawings, mood boards, 3D renders, material specifications, and other creative deliverables produced by Luma Path remain the intellectual property of Luma Path until full payment has been received. Upon receipt of final payment, the client is granted a non-exclusive licence to use the delivered materials for the specific project for which they were created.

Luma Path retains the right to photograph completed projects and use these images for portfolio, marketing, and promotional purposes, with the client's name omitted unless written consent to include it is provided.

7. Third-Party Suppliers and Contractors

Where Luma Path recommends or coordinates with third-party suppliers, contractors, or manufacturers on behalf of the client, Luma Path acts as a facilitator and is not party to the contracts formed between the client and those third parties. Luma Path does not warrant the performance, delivery timelines, or quality of goods and services provided by third parties.

Any disputes arising from third-party arrangements should be directed to the relevant supplier or contractor. Luma Path will, where reasonable, assist in facilitating communication in such matters during an active Soft Handover engagement.

8. Cancellation

Either party may cancel a project engagement with 14 days' written notice. In the event of cancellation by the client:

  • The initial deposit is non-refundable.
  • If work has commenced beyond the deposit phase, Luma Path will invoice for time and materials expended up to the date of cancellation.

In the event of cancellation by Luma Path due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, any fees paid for work not yet delivered will be refunded within 14 business days.

9. Limitation of Liability

Luma Path's total liability to the client in connection with any engagement shall not exceed the total fees paid for that specific project. Luma Path is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including loss of enjoyment or disruption of occupation of the space.

Luma Path is not responsible for structural defects, building code violations, or safety issues that were not disclosed to us prior to engagement or that arose after project completion through the actions of contractors or other parties.

10. Confidentiality

Luma Path treats all information shared by clients as confidential and will not disclose details of the project, the client's home, or any personal circumstances to third parties without consent, except where required by law or as necessary to carry out the agreed services (e.g., sharing specifications with a supplier).

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms or any engagement with Luma Path shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia. Where possible, Luma Path encourages resolution through good-faith discussion before any formal proceedings.

12. Changes to These Terms

Luma Path may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The current version will always be available on our website. Material changes will be communicated to active clients by email.
